Save A Life

  1. Was our design successful.  Our first two attempts were unsuccessful but our third was successful because the man we used had foam on the back of the head and on the front of the man.
  2. What could  have been improved in your design. We should of took in consideration that he could flip if it had both pieces of foam on his back.there for making us finish faster
  3. How dose the life jacket cause the density of the man to change. It causes the volume to increase there for making it float

All About Simple Machines

Simple machines are used to make work easier. Things like compound machines are a combination of two or more simple machine (Ex. scissors, bike, car). A simple machine is any mechanical device applying a force such as a plane wedge lever where work input > output . The last type of simple machine is the ideal machine. The ideal machine’s work input is equal to work output, some work is always lost to friction. Friction is the number of times a machine multiplies the effort of the machine. The efficiency ratio is the ratio of work output to work input. Mechanical advantage is equal to the resistance force divided by the effort force

Simple machines levers include the first class for example, a seesaw, the second class example is a wheelbarrow, and the third class example is a bat. With the pulley fixed the pulley changed direction of force and movable changed direction and multiplied effort force. Inclined Planes, A Ramp is a Simple inclined plane, A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a post. A wedge is two inclined planes back to back, for example a knife, wheel and axle and two wheels of different size.

The Rube Goldberg machine is a complex machine to do something easy. Ours worked the first time but then kept messing up. When it didn’t work properly it was because it kept missing the hot wheels track which didn’t the board which didn’t hit the weight that hit the button. It would have worked better if were a few more simple machines that would help the machine work better
